My wife and I have a 30 yr. fixed @ 5.75% w/Citimortgage. We not only pay on time, but typically make 3 additional payments/ year. With the loan market being as it is….can you negotiate with your mortgage rate?

Why do 30 year mortgage rates continue to rise, while the fed continues to lower the fed funds rate?

It seems as though when money is more readily available, the 30 yr mortgage rates should drop.

With the average mortgage rates dropping, I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of time you have to pay on your mortgage before you can refinance? 1 year?

How can we lower our mortgage rate?

Hi,
I’m wondering what are the options to lowering our mortgage rate. We currently have about a 300,000 dollar loan for our house. However, we have them on two different loans; they’re at 10% and 7% interest. I was wondering what steps we can take to lower these rates. With the economy recessing, it’s becoming harder and harder to pay these bills. I have heard in the news that we can have our mortgage rates lowered up to 5%? Please, if there’s anything we can do, please inform us. Thanks for your help.

Can I get a annual mortgage rate in Turkey for sterling lower than 7%?

All reasearch I’ve done via internet and Turkish estate agencies quote really high annual mortgage rates for sterling, more so than Euros. Would it make more sense to buy in Euro? My salary and savings are all in sterling.

Is this a good or bad mortgage rate to have these days?

I’ve got a 7.125% fixed rate on a 40 year mortgage through BankofAmerica. Home value is about 125,000. I bought it for 109. The mortgage is for 90. Is there anything better out there that I could actually get?

Is there such a thing as a government mortgage rate?

swtsarina asked:

Countrywide told us that for a 30 year fixed rate for a $417k loan it would be 6% because we work for the government and any mortgage company will offer the same exact rate because it is the “government rate”. Is this correct? I never heard of such a thing.

The Fed has announced they may cut interest rates in the middle of March. I am currently working on getting a mortgage for a property I will close in mid-April. Should I wait to lock the rate until after the Fed announces the cut?

Why would someone pick an adjustable rate mortgage over a fixed rate one?

Kiwi asked:

I just read that foreclosures are up 78% in my state, and a lot of them were because people could not afford to pay on their skyrocketing adjustable rate mortgage. I have never bought a home before, but I would like to know why anyone would choose such a mortgage. Are fixed rate mortgages so much harder to obtain?
